VINCENT MONTEIL

Musical director of the Nice Opera – Côte d’Azur. After studying at the Conservatory of Angers and then at Rueil-Malmaison, he graduated in musicology at the Sorbonne and specialized in conducting alongside Gérard Devos and Pierre Dervaux. In 1996 he joined the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted around thirty shows a year for six years. From 1999 to 2003 he began an ongoing collaboration with the Prague State Opera where he became guest conductor of French opera: the works recorded in Prague earned him an invitation from Sir John Eliot Gardiner to prepare Ariane et Barbe- Bleue in Zurich. Since 2005, he has been chosen by the AFAA (then Cultures France and the Institut Français) to broadcast French music abroad as part of the “one conductor, one orchestra” programme. He thus conducted both the symphonic and operatic repertoire in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Georgia, Serbia, Russia but also in Spain, Italy, Germany and Canada. From 2012 to 2014 he was Artistic Director of the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte of Montepulciano, in Tuscany. Since 2008 he has been Musical Director of the Opera Studio and Musical Consultant of the Opéra National du Rhin. Since 2021 he has been active at the Opèra Nice – Côte d’Azur where he works as musical director.
